Police close off A1 to deal with serious crash

Police are putting diversions in place off the A1

A serious crash is causing eight miles of traffic on the A1 south of Grantham. Police have closed off the road.

Lincolnshire Police has put a closure in place for both directions after the crash between Colsterworth and Little Ponton at around 1pm on Monday, September 2.

Drivers are being told to avoid the area by Highways England and Lincolnshire Police. The A1 is closed between the A607 and A606.

It is unclear how many vehicles were involved in the crashed or whether anybody sustained injuries at the time of writing.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We are dealing with an RTC reported at 12.09pm on the A1 Great North Road, Easton, near the Skellington turn off. The road is currently blocked.”
