Flames light up Lincoln street in suspected car arson

Police are looking for witnesses

Firefighters were called to battle a suspected vehicle arson attack over the weekend.

Swift Gardens in Lincoln was aglow when the vehicle burst into flames just after 3am on Saturday, on October 19.

Crews worked into the early hours of the morning to stop the spread of the blaze.

It is currently being investigated by police as criminal damage.

Police said incident 58 of October 19 refers to a report of arson, but the incident is currently being investigated as criminal damage.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue said it is suspected as deliberate and police are investigating.

The aftermath of the fire on Saturday morning

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue said: “One car (BMW) was completely burnt through. Two cars suffered heat damage close by, so it looks like one car was targeted. One fire engine and crew attended.”

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “Investigations are ongoing and we would ask any witnesses to contact us on 101.”
