Former Scunthorpe pub could become flats

The pub recently sold at auction for £70,000

A former Scunthorpe pub could be set to become flats.

M&J Pido Properties SPV, has applied to North Lincolnshire Council to turn The Riveter, on Henderson Avenue, into six self-contained apartments.

The alterations would use the existing space, including creating four flats across the ground and first floors.

Documents before the authority say: “The intended use of the apartments will be primarily aimed at local people looking to rent reasonably-sized apartments on a medium to long-term basis.”

They add that there is a known market interest in the area for the accommodation.

“The proposal provides a development integrated into the existing settlement, ensures the structure is retained for future generations and provides a valuable service to the local community,” say the documents.

The developers conclude that the plans would not impact adversely on neighbours.

The pub recently sold at auction for £70,000, after serving customers in one form or another since 1939.
