A giant homegrown pumpkin has landed at a local fruit and veg stall in Lincoln weighing…well you have to guess that bit!
The Guess the Weight competition is now open at the S Sharpe & Daughter Fruit and Veg stall at the indoor central market on Sincil Street.
Entry is just £1, with a form to fill in at the stall. All money raised will go towards the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
The stall is open from 8am-4pm every day except for Wednesdays and Sundays.
The winner will receive the pumpkin itself and a £10 fruit and veg hamper, but not even the organisers know the weight yet. The big reveal will be done at a weigh in around lunchtime on Tuesday, October 29.

The owner’s daughter Beth Sharpe, 23, told The Lincolnite: “My dad normally grows smaller ones and he got different seeds to try another variety.
“I decided I wanted to do something for charity to attract people’s attention and we are raising money for the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance because it’s local and you never know when you might need it.”

The pumpkins have been homegrown at Steve and Beth’s farm in Langworth. 10,000 were grown to give to wholesalers and for their fruit and veg stall to sell ready for Halloween.

A snack bar in Lincoln has been told to make improvements in several areas after being given a one-star food hygiene rating.
Monks Road Snack Bar, located on 23 Monks Road, was visited by city council inspectors on May 25, 2022 and the rating was recently published on the Food Standards Agency’s website.
The standards found at the time of inspection showed that improvement was necessary in the areas of ‘hygienic food handling’ and the ‘Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building’.
It was also deemed that there was “major improvement necessary” relating to the ‘Management of food safety’.
Monks Road Snack Bar was previously given five-star ratings in June 2016 and September 2018.
The Lincolnite tried to contact the business on numerous occasions throughout the day on Friday, July 1 but the line was continuously engaged.
