Lincolnshire hospital staff win half price parking

The hospital trust made over £800k from staff parking in 2017

Hospital staff have won half-price parking from next year, which is estimated to put £75 a year back into the pockets of the lowest-paid.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) told The Lincolnite that staff were struggling to find spaces and that there was a problem with morale.

The half-price parking will come into force from April 2020, the trust wrote in an email to staff members.

ULHT made £845,703 from charges and penalty fees by NHS staff using parking across its sites in 2017.

The move is predicted by Unison to put over £600,000 a year back into the pockets of NHS staff across the county.

Unison has insisted that it will continue to lobby for the trust to scrap what they deem to be “unfair” staff parking fees altogether.

This good news comes after a parking firm was forced to drop historic parking fines as a “gesture of goodwill.”
