A man was sent to hospital with a facial injury after a “vicious attack” off Monks Road in Lincoln on Sunday.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed that they received a report of an injured man in his 30s, who had been assaulted by a group of three men. It happened on Winn Street on the junction with Baggholme Road at 6.13pm on Sunday, October 6.

The men later fled the scene in a silver BMW.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with a facial injury, not believed to be life-threatening.”

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Lincolnite they were in The Birdcage pub when they heard about the incident and went to check on the man. People then stayed with the man until police arrived.

The resident said: “There were four men on a bike and a silver car working together I think. The poor man that got mugged wasn’t a customer in the pub, he was just walking past. I saw the guy and he was mugged and in an awful state.

“He didn’t look good, although he was standing, but it looked like he had been in a boxing match. We were worried whether he had swelling to the brain.

“It was a very vicious attack.”

Although the incident was called in as Winn Street, police confirmed on Tuesday that it happened off John Street in Lincoln.

Anyone with information or who was in the area around the time of the assault should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 333 of October 6.
