Man named and charged after child pushed to ground during Co-op theft

A court date has been set

A 32-year-old man has been named and charged by police after an investigation into reports of a two-year-old being injured during an alleged theft in Lincoln.

As previously reported, the offender entered the Lincolnshire Co-op store on Carholme Road in Lincoln on September 5 and filled a bag with items.

As he was leaving the store the man pushed the child to the ground, causing a minor injury. The man then fled the scene on a bike with the stolen items.

A 32-year-old man was later arrested.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed on Friday, October 25 that Anthony Jones, 32, of no fixed address, was charged with assault and theft.

He was bailed and is due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on December 12.
