A woman in her 30s has died after being hit by a train at Newark, British Transport Police have confirmed.
As previously reported, British Transport Police were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks at Newark North Gate at around 1pm on Wednesday, October 9.
Emergency services were called to the scene and buses were deployed to replace cancelled trains.
Paramedics attended and the female casualty was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police told reporters on the morning of Thursday, October 10 that her family had been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and BTP are now preparing a file for the coroner.
