Moped rider dies after A46 crash

Police are appealing for witnesses

A 42-year-old moped rider has died after a crash on the A46 southbound at Flintham, near Newark, on Wednesday evening.

As previously reported, police closed the A46 northbound at Farndon on the Lincolnshire border as well as the Lodge Lane and Flintham access roads at around 9pm on December 11. It remained closed until 9am on Thursday, December 12, causing a build-up of congestion in the area.

Paramedics rushed the moped driver to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries. He later died of his injuries and his family have been informed, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should call them on 101 quoting incident number 869 of December 11.

Case Investigator Louise Melbourne said: “We’re working to understand the circumstances of this incident and I would like to encourage anyone who may have any dashcam footage to get in touch with us.”
