Gainsborough £20m riverside housing to go ahead

They will build 135 new homes as well as landscaping and a riverside walk

Work will start this year on a new £20 million riverside housing development in Gainsborough.

It will form part of West Lindsey District Council’s regeneration plans for brownfield sites as well as plans to bring more affordable homes to the town.

The development was granted planning permission on January 8 for 135 new homes as well as landscaping and a riverside walk.

It will offer residents a mix of various housing types from over 55s accommodation to family homes.

Acis, a local housing developer, will start work on the site on Bowling Green Lane in March 2020 with an expected finish date of December 2023.

Working closely with the Environment Agency, the finished floor levels of the new homes have been raised above the minimum levels to prevent flooding.

Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (GLLEP) has awarded the project a £2.27 million grant to enable the development.

Mark Jones, Director of Property Services at Acis, said: “This is another great development for Gainsborough, bringing more quality affordable homes to the town.

“This is part of our wider ambitious growth plans for the region, delivering safe, attractive neighbourhoods and ultimately better lives for the people of West Lindsey.”
