Lincoln HMV to close next week ahead of move

The closure and relocation dates have been set

Music and film retailer HMV will close its Lincoln High Street store next week before relocating to the Cornhill Quarter.

The shop on Lincoln High Street will close on January 12. McDonald’s is set to relocate from the Cornhill Quarter and into HMV’s current High Street location, although the fast food giant has not yet confirmed a date for the move.

The new HMV, which will be located next to Heron Foods in the old BrightHouse unit on Cornhill Pavement, will open on Friday, January 24.

Posters in the window confirmed the move with a message from the HMV Lincoln team saying “thank you for shopping with us and we’ll see you in the new store”.

Laurence Price, Head of Retail at HMV, said previously: “All staff will be moving across to the new store and are looking forward to a refreshed unit which will give us the chance to update our offer and improve on our already expanded vinyl range.

“The Cornhill Quarter is a developing part of the city and we hope to be able to put our stamp on it.”

The Cornhill Quarter is a £70 million redevelopment project by Lincolnshire Co-op alongside the City of Lincoln Council.
