A popular Lincoln High Street bar and restaurant is closing for a £446,000 refurbishment this weekend, promising to create the “best beer garden in the city”.
Slug & Lettuce will close at 4pm on January 5 before re-opening again at 10am on Friday, January 31.
General Manager Gemma Gallon told The Lincolnite that around £90,000 will be spent “to create the best beer garden in Lincoln”. This will include a pagoda over part of the garden and more seating.
Inside, the bar will also undergo an extensive refurbishment, including booths with giant bird cages over them, more artwork and a cocktail masterclass station.
The bar will also be ripped out and rebuilt with more service space. The toilets will also be gutted and refurbished.

The Lincoln refurbishment will echo the specification of Slug & Lettuce Nottingham Market Square. It will also create new jobs for 15 additional staff.
The menu will stay the same, including vegan food and cocktails, and new vegan mocktails, as well as a revamped afternoon tea.

General Manager Gemma Gallon told The Lincolnite: “The current team have been here a good few years and we are buzzing about it. We are proud of where we work and looking forward to team bonding when we close.
“We are looking forward to then re-opening and having a great beer garden. We will be the sexiest place in Lincoln with the best beer garden, so make sure you consider us on random nights out or special events.”
