WWII explosives found at village home near Lincoln

A specialist team carried out a controlled detonation

Explosives believed to be World War Two mortars, a flare and grenades were among the items found by a bomb disposal unit at a village home near Lincoln.

The Explosive Ordinance Disposal team were deployed to the property on Station Road in Potterhanworth on Sunday, January 19, where devices dating back to World War Two, were found.

The EOD team carried out a controlled detonation at 3.12pm.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We received a report about some WW2 devices at a property in Station Road. EOD were deployed and safely disposed of the items.

“They were thought to be bombs including mortars, a flare and grenades and EOD carried out a controlled detonation at 3.12pm yesterday (January 19).”
