Designs unveiled for new retirement community in Woodhall Spa

The proposals will include a community pavilion

A retirement housing company is looking to build a 49 bungalow community scheme in Woodhall Spa.

The development, on land off Tattershall Road, will sit close to nearby shops and amenities, but will also include a community pavilion and other social facilities for residents, said developers McCarthy and Stone.

In documents to East Lindsey District Council’s planning department, they said the proposals will help maintain independence, satisfy residents’ needs and enable them to socialise without needing to leave the site.

An existing tree will form a central point of the development.

They added that the new housing will allow elderly people to free up “a substantial amount of housing stock which can then be used by families, young couples and first-time buyers… and as a consequence relieves pressure on the Green belt.”

How the site would be laid out.

The bungalows will range from one-three bedrooms, with some including individual garages.

The residents’ pavilion will include a small garden and will back on to views of a pond and woodland north of the site, said the developers, while an existing large oak tree will be made into a key feature of the scheme.
