Lincoln business creates coronavirus retail sneeze shields

Could this be the germ protection needed to keep shops open?

By Local Democracy Reporter

A local business in Lincoln has launched tabletop sneeze guards for shops and stores across the county to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Your Print Partner designed the sneeze shields to go atop shop tills and protect shopkeepers from any germs that may be contracted.

This is done through the use of a perspex screen inside a cardboard base, with a slot at the bottom to allow for regular scanning of items.

The screens retail at £24.99.

Stuart Maclaren, the managing director of the company, said the idea came from his company’s own experience with COVID-19.

“We typically work in the sports planning industry, so the cancellation of all sporting events has hit our business really hard.

“Our sales fell by 90% within 48 hours so we had to do as much as we could to keep trading.

“We started the sneeze guards with the intention of offering a cheap, safe alternative for local businesses to keep their stores open.

“It is quick and easy to set up, with no construction needed; it will ensure that staff are protected from germs.

“We’ve had hundreds of orders coming in. We want to support local businesses as much as we can, to ensure they stay open for as long as possible.”
