Lincoln Castle launches short story competition

Lucy the dragon is making her fist visit to Lincoln in 100 years!

By Local Democracy Reporter

Lincoln Castle is inviting people to get creative in its new short story competition, to celebrate Lucy the dragon returning to the castle after 100 years.

All stories in the competition have to involve Lucy, Lincoln Castle’s dragon, in some capacity.

The writing contest is designed to help residents welcome Lucy into the city after travelling from distant lands.

Stephanie Beecher, events officer at Lincoln Caste, said: “Tales should be as magical, fantastical and imaginative as possible.

“They could be about friendship, other dragons, families, adventures or far away lands – really anything you think would make an amazing story.

“Simply start your story with ‘Meet Lucy’ and let your imagination do the rest.

“Although we won’t be able to meet Lucy on the day she arrives, she is looking forward to reading all of the adventures you create for her.”

The competition is open now and will run until October 14 with three age categories, ranging from five years old to over 18’s.
