Lincolnshire farmers plough field with giant NHS logo to thank workers

Thank you key workers!

Beetroot farmers from a village near Gainsborough showed their appreciation for health workers during the coronavirus pandemic and ploughed a field with a giant NHS logo for the clap for carers initiative.

Beetroot UK is one of the biggest beetroot growers in the UK and the family business was established over 60 years ago. The firm is based at Stan White Farms in Misterton, with farms all over Lincolnshire.

Over 20 farmers clapped in the video to say a “big thank you to all health workers, front line services, logistics companies and farmers across the world” during the coronavirus crisis.

Graham White, director at Stan White Farms, Beetroot UK, said: “We’ve had a tough five months with all the floods, but as farmers we still hugely appreciate all the help and commitment given by the NHS and all front line staff and wanted to show our support.”

Others across Lincolnshire also clapped for NHS workers on Thursday evening, when Lincoln Cathedral was lit up in blue again to mark the occasion.

Lincolnshire shops, factories and farms are among those recruiting an army of temp workers to cope with the coronavirus crisis.

The Greater Lincolnshire LEP is also trying to help people back into work to feed the nation as the food sector continues to suffer from a shortage of workers.
