A roof appeared to collapse and smoke billowed through the air as a fire engulfed a three-story derelict block of flats in Gainsborough on Friday.
Timmy Baxter, who was passing the scene at around 12pm, told Lincolnshire Reporter that the full block of flats had been taped off.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 12.50pm on April 3 and people were being told to stay indoors.
The extent of the damage, the cause of the fire and any information relating to any injuries was not known at the time of publication.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue said: “Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called at 12.50pm today (Friday) to a three floor derelict property on North Parade off Thurlby Road in Gainsborough.
“Seven appliances were in attendance initially, plus a control support unit and the aerial ladder platform from Lincoln South. This has now been scaled down to five appliances with 3 main jets and 1 hose reel in use.”
