A man who assaulted an elderly gentleman in his 70s in Spalding by spitting at him is being tracked down by police.

The victim was withdrawing money from a Natwest cash machine in Hall Place, Spalding at around midday on April 14.

The suspect walked past him on the pavement and made contact with the victim’s arm.

The victim allegedly asked the suspect to be careful due to concerns about social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic, and the man retaliated by spitting at him without warning.

He’s then said to have walked away and refused to engage with the victim.

Lincolnshire Police are appealing for any assistance in identifying the man from the picture.

They did not specify if he was considered a suspect or witness.
