Police sting as Lincoln bike thief falls into nettles and breaks ankle

He was left red faced…literally

A Lincoln bike theft suspect was caught by police after he fell into a deep overgrowth of nettles and broke his ankle.

Police believed the 40-year-old male stole a bike from Lincoln High Street after 2pm on Tuesday, May 12.

Police said he fell off the bike along the riverside near Carholme Road. After breaking his ankle and landing in the nettles, the man was discovered by officers next to the stolen bike with a red face, arms and legs.

The man was taken to hospital, where he remains, but police said the injuries are not serious.
