Youth brawl at Stamford meadows

Over 100 teenagers gathered before it eventually came to blows

By Local Democracy Reporter

A large gathering of teenagers on Stamford’s meadows resulted in a brawl between more than 20 people.

At around 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 27, several groups of people near the River Welland were gathered around one another.

The fight reportedly escalated at 9.45pm when punches and kicks were thrown, but everyone had left before police could arrive.

All involved were clearly breaking social distancing rules by congregating there in the first place.

A video of the incident was uploaded anonymously, showing a big group of people fighting before police arrive.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We received a report of a large gathering of youths at the Meadows at around 8.14pm on Wednesday.

“Officers attended but the group had dispersed before we arrived. Officers are looking into this.”
