Debenhams will reopen some stores on June 15, with the Lincoln branch amongst the first 50 in the UK.

The Lincoln store on St Mark Street is part of the first wave of reopening for department store chain Debenhams, with 50 of its 142 stores coming back on June 15.

Steven Cook, managing director of Debenhams, released a statement saying: “We are delighted to be welcoming customers back to our stores in the coming weeks.

“From the installation of perspex screens at till points to the roll-out of social distancing procedures and PPE, we have been working hard to ensure our colleagues and customers can work and shop with confidence.”

The cafe will remain closed in the meantime due to lockdown guidelines.

Also, The Lincolnite reported that 22 restaurant staff lost their jobs at the St Marks store, after they were made redundant following three months of furlough.

The Scunthorpe store will also be reopening alongside the Lincoln branch.
