Work completed on new Grantham University Centre

HE courses in Grantham delivered by the University of Lincoln

A new university centre to help deliver higher education and training in Grantham has been completed.

The 9,000 square foot building will sit above the new Savoy cinema complex on St Peter’s Hill.

Students will have the chance to study degrees, diplomas and high-level apprenticeships at the facility.

The centre has been developed by InvestSK alongside South Kesteven District Council, and was funded by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Construction company Lindum Group handled the fit-out of the building, and the University of Lincoln will deliver courses there.

Steve Bowyer, CEO of InvestSK, said: “Developing the right skills for the businesses in and around South Kesteven has always been important for the economy, and this is even more true now.

“This centre should play a vital part in our economic recovery across the region.”

Leader of South Kesteven District Council, Cllr Kelham Cooke, said: “We have invested heavily in the heart of Grantham town, notably the Savoy cinema complex, and
the fact that our very own University centre will contribute positively to that is extremely exciting.”

Ruth Carver, chief executive of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, said she was “delighted” to be involved in the creation.

“Our £2 million grant support for the scheme will enable educational opportunities for southern Lincolnshire residents and businesses to higher level skills development in the priority sectors for Lincolnshire.”
