Lincoln churches to hold online COVID-19 remembrance service

Mourning the human impact of coronavirus

People across Lincolnshire are being invited to light a candle in a window for an online church service in remembrance of the human impact of COVID-19.

The service entitled ‘Lincoln Remembers – COVID, Grief and Hope’ – will take place online here at 7pm on Sunday, September 20 and will recognise the lives taken by the virus and to look to the future with a sense of hope.

The invitation is for anyone to attend regardless of belief and candles will be lit as a communal way of marking the gathering.

During the service, which is being organised by CTAL (Churches Together in All Lincolnshire), there will be people available to talk with anyone through the online platform.

There will also be participation from emergency workers and others who have worked throughout the pandemic to help others.

CTAL said local church leaders believe that how we remember and shape memories is so important for individuals and the community.
