Loo roll stockpiling frenzy continues in Lincolnshire

Purchase limits could soon be introduced

By Local Democracy Reporter

The search for toilet paper in Lincoln continues as ASDA in North Hykeham has empty shelves again, with the stockpiling frenzy rolling on.

On Wednesday, shoppers were out of luck when the shelves on the toilet roll aisle at ASDA’s North Hykeham branch were empty.

It seems like the problems are continuing, as the shelf was empty once again on Friday afternoon.

Similar issues have also been reported at Tesco in Boston too over the weekend.

Supermarkets responded to the fears of a second wave of stockpiling amid talks of another national coronavirus lockdown, with ASDA confirming that purchase limits would be placed on high demand items if it continued.

In a statement, an ASDA spokesperson said: “Please shop responsibly so there’s enough to go round.

“You can help by only amending your order once and only if urgent. We have plenty of stock coming in but we need to manage demand so we can serve everyone.”
