Police find driver of Grantham hit and run car theft

Teenager named and charged

Officers found and arrested the third teenager involved in a car theft in Grantham that resulted in a hit and run with a police car.

On Tuesday morning a marked police car was hit by a blue Honda HR-V on Springfield Road which was believed to be stolen.

The crash caused injuries to two police officers. They will make a full recovery after being taken to hospital for treatment.

The three men in the stolen Honda fled the scene, but two of them were swiftly arrested.

They were passengers in the vehicle and aged 15 and 16.

A police helicopter was sent over Grantham to look for the third suspect, the driver of the vehicle.

Officers found the man at 10.30pm on Wednesday night on Launder Terrace, near Station Road in Grantham.

Patrick Gerrard Hoyland, 19, of Oaksview Park, Arncott Road in Boarstall, was arrested and charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, making off from a petrol station without payment, two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of driving without insurance and two counts of driving without a licence.

He appeared before Lincoln Magistrates Thrusday and has been released on bail to appear at a later date.

The 15-year-old passenger has been charged with making off without payment and will appear at Lincoln Youth Court next month, while the 16-year-old received a youth caution for obstructing police.
