Police warning that some beggars ‘have homes in Lincoln’

The Forum is a problem area

There has been an increase in the number of people begging at The Forum in North Hykeham, but police said not all are homeless and some have homes in Lincoln.

Hykeham Police said The Forum has been highlighted as a place which is “lucrative to beg”.

The force is also advising people to consider donating to a homeless charity rather than giving directly to someone begging.

Lincoln also has an Intervention Team that combats widespread problems of drug abuse and addiction in the city.

Earlier this year it was announced that the team will continue its work until 2021 after the city council secured £90,000 of National Lottery funding.

The project is currently funded by the city council, Lincoln BIG, Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner and the NHS.

Hykeham Police said there has been a recent increase in the number of people begging at The Forum.
