Scunthorpe footballer tests positive for coronavirus

Saturday’s match will still go ahead

A Scunthorpe United player has tested positive for coronavirus after a recent round of COVID-19 testing.

The League Two club said it is following all of the EFL’s COVID-19 protocols and will not name the player in question.

However, the club confirmed that the home Carabao Cup match against Port Vale on Saturday, September 5 will still go ahead as planned.

Meanwhile, another Lincolnshire side – Lincoln United – confirmed on Friday that a player in its football development squad had tested positive for coronavirus.
