Two more Grantham restaurants close amid COVID-19 woes

Pizza Express will not reopen

Two Grantham restaurants, including Pizza Express, will close for good.

Pizza Express recently agreed with creditors a company voluntary arrangement, which means closing 73 of its 335 restaurants.

The branch at The George Centre on Grantham High Street is on the closure list.

Another businesses has also closed at the George Centre, including Portuguese restaurant Sabor Lusitano.

According to Grantham Nub News, it’s going into liquidation due to the coronavirus pandemic and lack of rent and service charge relief from the landlord.

Sabor Lusitano had only opened in January before it was forced to close in March due to the coronavirus crisis. It later reopened for takeaways before closing again at the end of July.

It has been a tough time for The George Shopping Centre during the coronavirus pandemic, with Feelgood Fitness closing its gym in July after going into liquidation too.

Oblio’s Deli and Bistro also relocated to elsewhere in Westgate, while Capuccinos Cafe and Bon Patisserie closed.
