Victim named and suspect charged with Skegness murder

Both the victim and the suspect have been named

A 37-year-old man has been named and charged with the murder of 45-year-old Paul Barnett in Skegness on Tuesday.

Police were called to Grosvenor Road just after 11pm on Tuesday, September 22 where Paul Barnett, 45, suffered serious injuries that proved to be fatal.

The victim died at the scene and officers have now charged Paul Bodell, 37, of Grosvenor Road, Skegness, with his murder.

Bodell is due to appear at court via video link on Friday.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Myszczyszyn, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “We arrested Paul Bodell on suspicion of murder on Wednesday morning. He has now been charged with the murder of Mr Barnett who sadly lost his life after receiving a fatal injury.

“We would like to thank the people of Skegness for their support with our investigation. We do believe this was an isolated incident in which both the suspect and victim were known to one another.”

Investigations are still ongoing and police are continuing to appeal for information.
