Village rumbled by controlled explosion of WWII bomb

Huge shell found off the road

A controlled explosion was carried out after the discovery of a World War II shell in Harmston.

The incident was reported to Lincolnshire Police shortly before 2pm on Monday, September 14 when a person found the shell on Broughton Lane.

Police and the bomb disposal unit responded to the incident and a cordon surrounding the area was put in place.

A controlled explosion was carried out on Broughton Lane during the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15.
