Boston man admits string of cash and jewellery burglaries

A man admitted stealing hundreds of pounds worth of cash, jewellery and computer equipment during a string of burglaries across Boston.

Nikola Georgiev, 29, was warned to expect a jail sentence by Judge John Pini QC after he pleaded guilty to three burglary charges in the town.

Georgiev, of Tower Road, Boston, entered his pleas through a Bulgarian interpreter when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, June 10 via a video-link from prison.

The court heard bank cards were taken during the first burglary committed by Georgiev in Sleaford Road, Boston, on March 4.

A computer, laptop, two rings, two gold chains and £400 cash were among the property stolen during the second burglary admitted by Georgiev in Broadfield Street, Boston, on March 21.

DVD’s, a Nintendo games console, Xbox, PlayStation and fishing equipment were taken during the final burglary carried out by Georgiev the following day in Witham Street, Boston, on March 22.

The court heard three other burglaries, including one where the occupants were present, will be taken into consideration when Georgiev is sentenced later this month.

Speaking through a Bulgarian interpreter after entering his pleas Georgiev said: “I am sorry.”

Neil Sands, mitigating, said Georgiev was already in custody and realistic about the outcome.

“There is no request for a pre-sentence report by the Probation Service,” Mr Sands told the court.

Judge Pini told Georgiev he was facing an immediate sentence of imprisonment.

“It will be a custodial sentence. It is just a question of length,” Judge Pini explained.

Georgiev was remanded back into custody until June 21 when he will be sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court.
