Birthday card appeal: Lincoln woman’s ‘butler in the buff’ 106th birthday plans

Send a birthday card to Norah if you can!

A resident at a Lincoln care home has some rather unique and special plans for her birthday this weekend as she gets ready to be served lunch by a butler in the buff.

Staff at Tennyson Wharf Care Home in Burton Waters are proud to be involved in part of Norah Shaw 106th birthday celebrations this Saturday, August 6.

In preparation for her big day, staff asked Norah what how she would like to celebrate and she giggled saying “butlers in the buff would be great”, and that wish is now being granted.

After an appeal on Facebook, and help from BBC Radio Lincolnshire, a company was found – Butlers in the Buff – to provide the buff butler. Norah’s favourite singer Eleanor Mattley has been booked for the afternoon celebrations, where there will also be cake and wine.

Zoe Sheridan, Actives Lead at Tennyson Wharf, told The Lincolnite the care home would love for people to send 106 birthday cards to match Norah’s magnificent.

Anyone wishing to send a card to Norah should post it, or drop it off, to Tennyson Wharf Care Home, Park Lane, Burton Waters, Lincoln, LN1 2ZD.

A fire crew visited the care home in March 2022 and Norah collared them for a chat.

Zoe told The Lincolnite: “Anyone that has had the pleasure of coming in to Tennyson Wharf and meeting Norah will know that she is an absolute ray of sunshine, always full of mischief and living life to the fullest, joining in with wonderful activities on offer daily, and making everyone feel welcomed and cared for with her huge heart and personality.

“Norah makes us all laugh daily and really is an absolute inspiration and we hope people will get on board and send in cards to surprise her with.”
