Plans to extend a holiday park in Chapel St Leonards with more than 40 static caravans have been submitted East Lindsey District Council.

Blue Anchor Leisure Ltd is planning to introduce 43 additional static caravans and five lodges to its Golden Anchor Holiday Site.

Currently comprising of 755 units, the holiday park on Trunch Lank is hoping to expand to meet growing demand amid the ‘staycation’ boom.

Under this application, the company hopes to offer larger and more exclusive caravans.

Initial planning documents read: “Blue Anchor Leisure Ltd has identified the need for additional caravan pitches to satisfy consumer demand, as many more tourists, especially since COVID-19, are taking UK-based holidays and short breaks, which should be encouraged.

“Visitors to the east coast are demanding improved holiday experiences, therefore sites are designed to accommodate ever-increasing caravan sizes with better quality finishes and surroundings.

“It is very difficult for sites to provide what many tourists are now demanding which will eventually result in high-density sites being gradually redeveloped incurring a loss of 25%-30% of pitches.

“This needs to be addressed to retain and encourage visitors to return.”

The proposed expansion includes a mix of units with various designs that will harmonise with the surrounding areas.

Generous spacing between the caravans will also be provided, along with open areas designated as amenity spaces.

Additionally, the plans feature a multi-use games area and a separate children’s play area.
