    Location Sleaford

    Industry Local Government

    Contract Full Time

    An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Communications Team at North Kesteven District Council for a Senior Communications Officer to progress the Council’s public, partner and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

    This is an ideal opportunity for somebody with creative flair, intuition and an innovative mind to develop the Council’s communications portfolio and profile.

    This post offers the chance for you to innovate in the promotion of the Council’s objectives, services and functions. This will be through both external and internal communications and will involve:

    • Reacting and responding to a fast-moving media environment.
    • Writing media releases, articles and corporate publications;
    • Photography, film and creative design;
    • Developing and delivering communications campaigns;
    • Devising and presenting guidance, training and good practice; and
    • The development and management of social media and new communication channels.

    You will need to be a highly literate, dynamic and confident person with a degree or equivalent and substantial communications experience already under your belt. It is essential that you are adaptable in dealing with people of all circumstances and competent in communicating the Council’s corporate objectives with clarity and consistency.

    You will be highly motivated, a self-starter, innovative and able to work to tight, and sometimes demanding, deadlines in a calm, composed and responsive manner. You will be capable and confident in communicating in a clear, concise and compelling manner across varied channels; to engage and advise at a senior level; and to work flexibly in accordance with the nature of the role.

    You should have an appreciation of the contribution councils can make to people living, working and visiting in its area, an awareness of current issues affecting local government and a passion for effecting positive change.

    You will be required to apply a high level of diplomacy and discretion in carrying out this politically-restricted role, and competency in managing people, budgets and resources, developing policy and delivering a high quality responsive service.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in a similar role to develop at a senior level, supporting the service manager and innovating new techniques for promoting a positive image of the Council as a whole.
