Part of the Royal Family’s commitments to the nation it resides over, royals often head out on duties across the country to explore the best we have to offer as a society. Here in Lincolnshire, we saw no shortage of royal visits in 2023, varying from the King himself to the Princess Royal and a cousin of the late, great Queen Elizabeth II.

Whether it was bombshell memoirs, the King’s Coronation or the explosive final season of Netflix’s hit drama The Crown, some of which was filmed in Lincolnshire in previous series, 2023 is a year that won’t be forgotten in a hurry by those connected to the Royal Family.

Lincolnshire was in the presence of royalty recently, as Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal visited St Botolph’s Church in Boston.

Anne, Princess Royal was in Lincolnshire to check out the work of Collingham-based firm Viridis, recently commissioned by St Botolph’s Church — also known as Boston Stump — to optimise energy efficiency, costs, UV exposure and humidity control.

After King Charles III descended on Lincolnshire for this first official visit since becoming head of the monarchy, we went to visit the county cheesemaker who he said was ‘putting Lincolnshire on the map.’

That cheesemaker is none other than Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese, a business of over 30 years that operates from the family arable farm at Ulceby Grange Farm, near Alford, for more than a century.
