Friends and family have said their goodbyes to a well-known Lincoln musician who has sadly lost his battle with cancer.
Greg Wright passed away on April 20, aged 72, after suffering from pancreatic cancer. He leaves husband Lee and loving friends.
Greg was a founder and musical director of The Hungate Singers, a group which regularly won the first prize at the Lincoln Music Festival and performed many times in Lincoln’s twin city, Neustadt.
He conducted The Lincoln Singers and The Lindum Consort and was involved in various roles with The Lincoln Chorale spanning 30 years.

Friend Tony Fielding-Raby said in a tribute to Greg: “Greg’s heart was in making music accessible to all, whether or not they could read music so, in addition to the formal choirs already mentioned, he also led singing groups in Potterhanworth, Metheringham and AgeUK.
Greg will be missed by many in the local community
“As an accomplished singing teacher, Greg is hugely respected by many local singers who benefitted from his expertise – lessons always delivered with grace and humour.
“He is remembered by his many friends as a consummate host, an accomplished cook, an expert wine maker and extremely skilled at many aspects of DIY. He was also a man with a warm heart for all, especially for those who had fallen through life’s cracks and were struggling to make sense of the world.
