Lincoln Ladies First Team Manager Glen Harris has been relieved of managerial duties in his second spell at the helm of the club, after only taking the reins again last September.

The Lady Imps ended the season strongly with convincing wins against Chelsea and Everton; however a run of nine games with only three wins at the tail end of the season meant that Harris’s team finished a disappointing 5th.

The side’s poor form at Ashby Avenue, where they only picked up nine points over seven games, was one of the major factors in the side’s underperformance in the Super League.

Lincoln Ladies chairman Luke Negus-Hill released a statement following the decision to remove Harris:

“Glen has done a fantastic job for Lincoln Ladies, from the very start, and we cannot thank him enough for the work that he has done behind the scenes at all levels and most recently as first team Manager.”

This past season wasn’t Harris’ first foray into management; he was first in charge of the Lady Imps in 2004, where the team competed in the Women’s Premier League Northern Division.

During that season he also won the Lincolnshire FA County Cup with the Lady Imps, and he began his second spell at the club last September.

Negus-Hill added: “Unfortunately, with the ambition that the clubs holds to continue our growth and expansion, we felt that a new approach to the first team may be beneficial and we will now be starting the search for the ideal candidate to take the club forwards.

“I am delighted to say that Glen will continue in his role as Technical Director of the club’s Centre of Excellence, his knowledge, experience and dedication will continue to be a massive asset to the club and we are better as an organisation for his continued involvement.”

The club’s search for a new First Team Manager has already begun, with potential candidates interviewing for the position over the next week.

The club hope to have a new appointment in place during the Super League’s off season.

MasterChef winner Tim Anderson with cooking competition winner student Jessica Kment

MasterChef winner Tim Anderson visited The Tower Bar on Monday, February 27, to give a cooking masterclass to students at the University of Lincoln.

Anderson’s class was part of a series of displays he is giving at universities over the UK; he visited the University of Salford last week.

Fed up of beans on toast? was the tagline to which this event was advertised, however ironically the first recipe that the MasterChef winner showed off was his ‘toast on beans’ recipe.

Anderson said: “I like the idea of a classic, with a different edge. It’s a great recipe, the butterbeans are really meaty and flavourful.”

At the end of the event, three students were picked from the crowd to participate in a cook off judged by Tim.

The winner was Jessica Kment, who won a hamper full of spices and cooking aids.

Rory Keegan, another competitor, said: “The event was a great success, we could really do with something like this on freshers’ week.”
