Administrators of Poundworld Retail Limited have confirmed the company will close its Lincoln store for good.

The company had previously announced some closures in recent weeks, but it has not revealed all 335 of its stores will be shut.

Lincoln’s Tritton Road shop had previously been earmarked as safe, however the company has been unable to find a buyer for its remaining stores.

Across the country, all of the retailer’s stores will likely close by August 10, affecting around 2,339 staff.

Poundworld also has three stores in Lincolnshire including at Augustin Retail Park in Grantham, Freshney Place in Grimsby and Foundry Shopping Centre in Scunthorpe.

At the time of writing, it is not known when the Lincoln store will close.

A new American diner and show bar is to open in the former Status Bar & Nightclub in Lincoln.

Named Swampy Johns, the new venue on Silver Street will be a show bar concept which is entertainment lead.

Owned by the Original Bierkeller, the new show bar expands on the popular Lincoln venue, with a wild west theme to complement the German concept.

At the time of writing it is not known how much has been invested in the venture and how many jobs will be created.

Status Bar & Nightclub first opened in September 2014 and closed in May 2016 following a battle with licensing restrictions.

It was said to have been serving between 400 and 500 customers on a Friday and Saturday night in the centre of Lincoln, however has remained closed until now.

A spokesperson for Swampy Johns said: “We are extremely excited about our new venture.

“We can’t wait to let Lincoln know what is coming after the huge success of Bierkeller.”
