Learn about Lincoln’s villains at half term

Horrific highwaymen: Children can learn all about the county’s highwaymen in Lincoln this half term.

A workshop at the Lincolnshire Archives is bound to capture children’s hearts with highwaymen, smugglers and other villains this month.

Rascals, Rogues and Ruffians is a workshop for all the family to learn about Lincolnshire’s Highwaymen through an exhibition and activities.

Senior Community Engagement Officer Jennifer Martin said: “The event will be an ideal way of keeping the kids entertained during the school holidays.

“Families will be able to play a highwayman game, make a Venetian-style highwayman mask and decorate a musket barrel picture.

“There will also be an exhibition about highwaymen, smugglers and duels, featuring documents, muskets, duelling swords and the sort of ‘swag’ an eighteenth-century cutpurse or highwayman would have stolen – snuff boxes, purses and watches.”

The event on February 25 starts at 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm at the Lincoln archives on St. Rumbolds Street and costs £1 per child (ages 7+).

Booking in advanced is preferred. To book, call the Lincolnshire Archives on 01522 567 137 or 526 204
