A record 5,500 people took part in the 15th Lincoln 10K Road Race on April 3.

The race across uphill Lincoln has grown significantly since the first event in 1997, when only 200 runners from Lincoln signed up.

The 10K started on Yarborough Road and then looped around the Cathedral and uphill Lincoln, before finishing at Lincoln Castle.

Added to the usual 10K and wheelchair races were the Get Mummy Fit Buggy Push, the Running Imp primary school race and the Lincoln College secondary school race.

A Lincolnshire man also travelled all the way from Peru to take part.

Every runner crossed the finish line in under 2 hours; 4,609 runners were recorded at the finish line.

Bruce Raeside won the race in 30 min 15 sec and Jenny Blizard became the first female to make it across the finish line in 35 min 10 sec.
