Display cars targeted by thieves

Car crime: Thieves have targeted a car dealer in Lincoln, stealing wheels and parts from a display vehicle.

Thieves have targeted a car dealer in Lincoln, stealing wheels and parts from a display vehicle to sell on to the grey market.

On the night of May 17 at around 11:30pm, intruders were spotted on CCTV at the Lexus dealership on the A46, next to Damon’s restaurant.

The offenders removed the wheels and bumper of a pre-owned Honda Civic Type R that was on display outside the dealership.

The door was damaged, the window was smashed and the number plates are missing as well.

“These items are sought after by standard Civic owners who would like to change the appearance of their vehicle so that it looks like Honda’s flagship Type R,” explained James Boughton-Thomas, Centre Principal at Lexus & Toyota in Lincoln.

Police officers are reviewing the CCTV footage and have inspected the vehicle as part of their investigation.

The suspects were also spotted by a member of the public who was in the car park next to Damon’s Hotel and immediately reported the incident.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident can call Lincolnshire Police on 0300 111 0300 quoting incident number 58 of May 18.
