School children are being recruited to try out a kid’s TRYathlon event, a project launched by local charity Active Nation.

The event, which is for years six and seven, will take place at the Yarborough Leisure Centre on July 18.

This is no ordinary triathlon though because the aim of it is to encourage students to have a go at anything regardless of their ability.

Recruitment is already underway to get 350 Lincoln pupils involved in three challenging hours of sport where they will complete a swim, bike ride and a run, but also have the chance to try out other sports.

The children will get to hear some words of encouragement from the local sporting hero Richard Sargent, who has represented Great Britain in wheelchair basketball and is part of Team 2012.

The event is also supported by the Cherry Willingham School Sport Partnership, Lincolnshire Sports Partnership and Lincolnshire Co-operative.

The event is completely free and all the equipment is provided for. Schools that are interested in booking should get in touch with Active Nation on 01522 873600.
