Police search for Portland Street shop arsonist

Arson attack: A shop in Lincoln was the victim of a potential arson attack last night.

Police are looking for information after someone attempted to set an unoccupied shop on fire.

The incident happened at around 11.15pm on November 23 on Portland Street.

It is believed that an offender poured accelerant through the letterbox of the shop and then set light to it.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue before the whole shop caught alight, and only damage to the door and shutters has been caused.

Police are hoping anyone who was in the area at that time last night spotted any suspicious activity and can help them with enquiries.

Anyone with information can call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
