Lincoln taxi firm expands with a new unit

New unit: Handsome Cabs will be moving over to a bigger unit to accommodate its popularity among residents.

Lincoln taxi firm Handsome Cabs will be moving into bigger premises next month, despite hardships in the previous year.

Gary Needham, alongside two other colleagues, all worked at the company when in June 2011 it went into liquidation.

The trio decided to take on the company for themselves, securing 200 jobs for its fleet of around 100.

However, days after acquiring the company, co-owner Gary Needham had to find the taxi firm a new operation unit, as the landlord evicted them. They currently operate from Corporation Street.

Now they are moving into a bigger unit at 21-23 Clasketgate, because the current unit is too small.

Gary Needham said: “After 14 months of hard work and good staff we have now stabalised the company through good house keeping and a faithful customer base.

“We are now able to re-locate to another much larger office which will be better for our customers and staff and increase our staff capacity, so we are able to take more calls, which means more work for the drivers.

“From this we hope this will send the right message to other drivers that we are confident of a bright future.”

The firm will move over to Clasketgate from the first week of October.
