Preparations for this year’s Lincoln Santa Fun Run

Siemens’ Santas: Around 100 local employees from Siemens will be running the upcoming Santa Fun Run among thousands of people.

Preparation are underway for this year’s Lincoln Santa Fun Run and Walk, taking place on Sunday, December 16 around the historic area of the Bailgate.

The run starts at 11.30am, when over 1,600 Santas will congregate at Lincoln Castle Square for the annual event.

The Mayor of Lincoln Councillor Karen Lee, who will be running with her team from St Barnabas, will start the run.

The Money raised will go directly to the official charities of the race, St Barnabas Hospice, Samaritans (Lincoln), Candles, British Heart Foundation (Lincoln), Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, and local Rotary charities.

Siemens in Lincoln is sponsoring this year’s event, and the company hopes 100 of its employees will get involved in the 3k course, 30 more than last year.

A number of employees from Siemens in Lincoln will be taking part in the annual Santa Fun Run next week, as part of its commitment to fundraising.

This will be the third time Siemens staff have run or walked the Santa Fun Run and Walk in uphill Lincoln.

John Hunt, head of finance at Siemens in Lincoln said: “We’ve been involved in the event for the last few years and every year it grows both in the number of people taking part and the amount of money raised for charity.

“Last year’s total of over £42,000 raised for the nominated charities was a huge achievement but we want to top that figure this year and the interest to date seems to suggest that we will be able to do that.”

Neil French, a Siemens employee, said: “It is brilliant to be part of the Fun Run. It is a great day out and everyone gets involved, whether as runner, walker or bystander, helping to raise money for a range of local causes. I wouldn’t miss it for anything.”
