Armed Forces Day in Lincoln

Commemoration day: Military-themed activities were organised in Lincoln city centre as part of Armed Forces Day.

Military-themed activities were organised in Lincoln city centre on Saturday, June 29, as part of Armed Forces Day.

The events, running between 10am and 4pm, took place at the War Memorial, City Square and Cornhill to commemorate those who fought in the World Wars and other oversea conflicts.

As well as a military parade — including veterans — in fornt of the Lincoln Civic Party, people could visit various armed forces stalls and check and out military vehicles on display.

There was also plenty of entertainment throughout the day, such as 1940′s style singer Katie Spitfire, Lincoln Sea Cadets drummers, the Lincoln Fire and Rescue Band and the Foss Dyke Brass band.

Just after 3.30pm, the Lancaster Bomber took part in a flypast, circling the city skies three times.
