Lincoln MP wears pink for charity fundraiser

Pink day: Lincoln’s MP Karl McCartney will wear pink to support a breast cancer charity.

Lincoln MP Karl McCartney will don his brightest pink garments this month as part of a pink day for charity.

Breast Cancer Campaign’s biggest fundraiser, Wear It Pink, will start on October 25, and McCartney will also be on hand to support the cause in Lincoln.

Last year, the annual event raised £23 million across the country from schools, colleges and businesses dressing up and other activities to raise money.

The money raised will go towards potentially lifesaving research for breast cancer.

Karl McCartney said: “Every year in the UK around 50,000 women and around 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly 12,000 women and 80 men die from this disease.

“This is why we need to support Breast Cancer Campaign’s fundraising efforts so they can continue to fund research which will one day lead to a cure.

“So join me, wear something pink and donate £2, it’s really as simple as that.”
