Lincoln street tops UK’s fastest broadband list

Broadband speed: Lincolnshire streets have appeared in lists of both the speediest and slowest for broadband speed in the country.

A Lincoln postcode ranked in the top five UK streets for fast broadband speeds, according to a survey.

Broadband customers on Mill Lane in North Hykeham receive an average download speed of 38.88 Mbps, making the street the fifth in the country for speed.

Lincolnshire also made the list of slowest streets for broadband in the UK with Station Road in Swineshead, Boston, ranking third slowest in the entire country.

The average download speed on Station Road is 0.65 Mbps, which is around 96 times slower than the fastest street and 30 times slower than the UK average speed (17.8Mbps).

According to the independent price comparison and switching service uSwitch.com, 4 in 10 people are experiencing average speeds of below 5Mbps.

The research is based on almost 2 million speed test results run by broadband users over a six-month period.
