Lincoln Christmas Market squeezed due to sale of The Lawn

Smaller market: The 2014 Lincoln Christmas Market will be smaller by around 25 stalls due to the loss of The Lawn from the route map.

The 2014 Lincoln Christmas Market will be smaller by around 25 stalls due to the loss of The Lawn from the route map.

The annual market had grown to accommodate around 200 stalls, but this year the City of Lincoln Council has set a maximum of 175 due to The Lawn being up for sale.

The Lincoln Suite area will be removed and the council say successful stall holder applicants will be absorbed into other areas of the market.

Sammy Pengelly, Events and Culture Officer at the City Council, said: “Due to The Lawn being on the market we are unable to use the building at the 2014 Lincoln Christmas Market.

“We have already informed prospective stallholders that we won’t be using the Lincoln Suite, which is usually within The Lawn building.

“We won’t be adding a new area of pitches but those affected will be absorbed, where possible, elsewhere in the market,” she added.

Spaces at the 32nd Lincoln Christmas Market are filling up fast. The first round of applications closes on July 28, with offers due to be sent out from August 18.
